Create your first QR code
To create your first QR code in QRSurge, open the QR code creator and choose a QR Code Type. Add the destination, customize the design, and scan-test the download before sharing or printing.
Gather the destination before you create the code
Have the final destination ready, such as a website URL, app listing, or contact details. If you are not sure whether you need an editable, trackable QR code or a fixed QR code, compare static and dynamic QR codes before creating your design.
Dynamic QR types currently include:
- Website
- App Store
- vCard
- Social Media
- SMS
- Phone
Static QR types add WiFi, Location, and Plain Text.
Create the QR code in QRSurge
- Open the QRSurge dashboard and go to the QR code creator.
- In QR Code Type, choose the type that matches the action someone should take after scanning.
- Choose dynamic if you need analytics or future edits, or static if the content should be encoded permanently.
- In Destination, enter the required fields for the selected type.
- For dynamic codes, review the dynamic link and campaign settings before you continue.
- In Design, customize the artwork and error correction level.
- Download the QR code in the format that fits your final use.
- Scan the downloaded file from at least one phone before placing it in a design or printing it.
Plan for edits, analytics, and final artwork
Dynamic QR codes are saved in the dashboard, use a QRSurge short link or custom domain, and can collect scan analytics. Static QR codes encode the final content directly into the QR pattern, so they do not rely on a redirect layer and cannot be edited after printing.
Use SVG for most print workflows, especially when the QR code will be resized inside a design tool. Use PNG or WebP for digital placements where you know the final pixel size. Avoid using screenshots as production artwork. Before publishing, download and test the final QR code.
Fix scanning or destination problems before you publish
If the QR code does not scan, simplify the design first: use stronger contrast, reduce logo size, and test the original download. If the QR code opens the wrong place, check whether it is static or dynamic, then verify the destination entered during setup.
