Customize your QR code
QRSurge lets you customize QR code artwork in the Design step. Keep the design high-contrast and easy to scan for the final placement.
Finish the destination before styling the code
Finish the QR Code Type and Destination steps first so the preview reflects the real encoded data. Longer content can make a QR pattern denser, which leaves less room for aggressive styling.
Customize your QR design
- Open the Design step in the creator.
- Choose foreground and background colors with strong contrast.
- Select a body style.
- Choose outer and inner corner styles.
- Set eye colors that are easy for cameras to detect.
- Add a logo if needed and adjust the size to ensure scannability.
- Add a frame and frame text when the placement needs a visible call to action.
- Use a stronger error correction level when using a logo or more stylized design.
- Scan-test the final download, not just the on-screen preview.
Keep contrast readable
Low contrast is the most common design problem. Dark foreground on a light background is the safest pattern. Avoid backgrounds that are transparent, busy, or photo-based unless the QR pattern remains clear.
Premium design options may depend on your plan. If a premium frame is preview-only, upgrade before using it in live QR artwork.
Simplify the design if scanning gets unreliable
If the QR code scans inconsistently, simplify the design:
- Remove the logo.
- Return to a square body style.
- Increase the contrast.
- Test again.
Add styling back one change at a time.
