Edit a QR code after printing
You can edit a QR code after printing only when it is dynamic. Dynamic QR codes keep the printed QR pattern stable while QRSurge updates the destination behind the redirect.
Confirm the QR code is dynamic
Confirm the QR code is dynamic. If the code is static, the destination or content is already encoded into the QR pattern and cannot be changed without creating and distributing a new QR code.
Update the destination behind the printed QR code
- Open the QRSurge dashboard.
- Find the QR code in Manage.
- Open the QR code detail view or edit action.
- Update the destination fields that need to change.
- Review any enabled campaign settings.
- Save the change.
- Scan the already printed QR code from a phone to confirm it now opens the updated destination.
Know which changes still require new artwork
Destination changes usually do not require a reprint for dynamic codes. Design changes do require a new download and replacement artwork because the printed image itself has changed.
Custom domains and custom dynamic link paths can't be edited once a QR code is created. When the public short link itself must change, create a new QR code and replace the artwork.
Use a new QR code when you need separate analytics, a different campaign identity, or a different printed QR pattern.
If the old destination still opens
If the old destination still opens:
- Check whether the QR code is static.
- Confirm that you edited the correct QR code in the right organization.
- Check whether smart rules are sending your device to a different destination.
- Test from more than one device.
